Negative leave (or 'Negative Balance') is when you take more leave than you have been entitled. Allowing negative balance for a leave type is similar to providing leave to your employees on loan.

Employees can pay back the negative leave in a few ways. The employee and employer should agree upon the terms before ever taking the accrual loan.

If your company has a policy that allows certain leave types to have Negative Balance, follow the steps below to guide you on activating these settings in the respective Leave Types.

First, create a new leave type.

  • Fill in the relevant details to create the leave type, as well as select the checkbox Allow Negative Balance. Click the button Create to proceed.
